Position Summary &
Purpose:
An opportunity for someone to get in at the beginning stages of developing a Quality System. The role will work closely with operators, supervisors, and QC technicians to develop and oversee the Inspection Plan Process. This person will be instrumental in building this brand‑new system and then helping to maintain it. The role requires significant interaction with operators and will spend 50% of the time on the shop floor helping to integrate the inspection plans, providing valuable experience across many manufacturing platforms.
The other 50% of the time will be spent on a computer reviewing part drawings, developing inspection plans, entering data from completed plans, manipulating data to create reports, and conducting analysisannie.
Duties & Responsibilities- Work with the existing QC team and operators to create and develop Part Inspection Plans.
- Look at a part drawing and identify the critical features to be measured.
- Establish the appropriate measuring tools that will be needed.
- Confirm whether the available measuring tools are adequate and identify any gaps.
- Work with QC Manager to establish the frequency for measuring each part.
- Create the inspection plan based on a pre‑existing template.
- Manage the Part Inspection Database by making changes when needed and updating plans when new part revisions are released.
- Experience in a shop environment and understanding of required safety and daily work expectations.
- Good verbal communication skills to interact with operators, supervisors, and QC team regarding technical details.
- Create spreadsheets of intermediate complexity (VLOOKUP, conditional formatting, linking cells across tabs and workbooks).
- Ability to create forms, tables, and other basic data presentation tools.
- Knowledge of how to read drawings and GD&T.
- Organized, detail oriented.
Ability to calculate and understand basic statistical measures – knowledge of +/- sigma variations. - Ability to work with and manipulate large amounts of data – pivot tables, graphing, sorting.
- Background in engineering/manufacturing principles, First Article FW inspections, FMEA analysis, Cp & Cpk, gauge R&R, quality processes, part inspection experience, and capability analysis.
Physical demands: The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work environment: The noise level is usually moderate.
