The Quality Lab Technician is a critical member of the manufacturing team responsible for ensuring the consistent quality of concrete paving stones and retaining wall products. This role supports the quality department by performing comprehensive absorption and density testing, analyzing materials, and maintaining compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. The technician collaborates with plant personnel to drive continuous improvement and uphold Unilock’s commitment to excellence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- Perform routine quality tests to verify product specifications and standards.
- Operate Lab equipment such as concrete compression equipment and lab ovens among other industrial lab equipment.
- Inspect raw materials, in process and finished goods for compliance standards.
- Document and elevate all products or processes non-conformance immediately to the Press Operator, Plant Supervisor, and Plant/QA Manager to ensure timely corrective action.
- Enter test results into ROO.AI software following each completed test.
- Partner with operators and supervisors to identify and implement process improvements.
- Actively participate in team discussions focused on enhancing product quality and operational efficiency.
- Apply a continuous improvement mindset to identify and support initiatives that optimize production processes.
- Conduct weekly 5S audits to maintain workplace organization and safety.
- Support and contribute to ongoing continuous improvement projects.
- Perform safety audits to ensure PPE, Safety Training, and Audit Standard compliance
- Attend Monthly Safety meetings
- Facilitate toolbox talks, recommend training topics to meet yearly safety goals.
- Perform additional duties and special assignments as directed by management.
- Ensure full compliance with Unilock’s safety, health, and environmental requirements during all QA activities.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Must be able to read and write in English
. - Ability to perform repetitive tasks and work with hands/arms at or above shoulder level
. - Visual acuity to distinguish colors and color blends accurately.
- Basic proficiency in using tablets and digital tools for data entry.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
. - Physical capability to stand, stoop, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs
. - Willingness to learn—no prior QA experience required; training provided.
- Preference given to candidates with familiarity with ASTM C936, ASTM 1372, and ASTM 1262 testing experience.
