Institutional Employment/Federal Work Study, Part‑time, non‑exempt (overtime eligible). Hourly rate: $13.00. The position is within Student Life and Involvement, Off‑Campus Life division.

• Provide front‑line customer service in the OCL office and The Pantry, answering phones, responding to emails, and assisting walk‑in guests.
• Maintain accurate records of communication, take messages, and respond timely to inquiries from supervisors via email, phone or Teams.
• Help facilitate Off‑Campus Life events such as Roommate Mixers, Housing Fairs, Budget Workshops and Leasing 101, and provide general coverage for events not directly facilitated.
• Maintain a respectful environment toward supervisors and staff, attend weekly supervision meetings and required staff meetings or trainings.
• Organize tasks with high accuracy and efficiency, adhere to shift schedules, and update task status in Teams.
• Support the mission of Off‑Campus Life by helping students develop skills for informed off‑campus decisions and fostering safe, values‑oriented communities.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Teams and Outlook.
• Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time.
• Team player who seeks and provides help when appropriate.
• Commitment to inclusive and affirming environments for all members of the JMU community.
• Customer‑service orientation and ability to interact with the public.

• Students must be degree‑seeking and enrolled on at least a half‑time basis (6 credits for undergraduates, 5 credits for graduates).
• After acceptance, new hires must complete an I‑9 form and provide documentation of identity and eligibility to work in the United States. James Madison University uses the E‑Verify system.
