General Information

James Madison University’s Office of Human Resources is accepting applications for a part‑time Recruitment and Employment Services Assistant. This position is responsible for providing a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers as well as administrative support to the Recruitment and Employment Services team.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Providing assistance with the recruitment process to internal and external customers via phone, email, and in person
  • Assisting applicants with the online application process
  • Supporting special Recruitment and Employment Services Team projects, initiatives, and events such as Connections Day and Job Fairs
  • Providing additional general administrative and clerical support for other HR functions on an as‑needed basis
  • Tracking reference letters that are received, scanning them, and following up on references that are not received
  • Running reports in a timely manner and ensuring data is accurate
  • Scanning documents into an electronic filing system

  • Demonstrated excellent administrative practices and procedures
  • Strong interpersonal skills, customer service experience, and the proven ability to build strong working relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Professionalism and adaptability
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and multi‑task
  • Demonstrated typing and data entry skills and computer knowledge in a Windows‑based environment, preferably Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information
Conditions of Employment

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.

This is a part‑time wage position working up to an average of 29 hours per week over the course of a calendar year with no benefits.
