Estimator and Production Specialist About the Position

Venture Builders is seeking an organized, detail-oriented Estimator and Production Specialist to join our remodeling team in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

The Estimator and Production Specialist is primarily responsible for developing accurate estimates for residential remodeling projects and ensuring the information needed to move those projects into production is complete, accurate, and properly entered into Job Tread.

This position serves as an important link between estimating, sales, design, and production. Once an estimate is completed, the Estimator and Production Specialist will begin entering project information into contracts and Job Tread, coordinate materials and subcontractors, and help ensure the production team has the information and resources needed to move the project forward.

The ideal candidate has construction estimating experience, strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple moving pieces while maintaining accurate project information.

Key Responsibilities Construction Estimating
  • Develop accurate and complete estimates for residential remodeling projects.
  • Review project scope, plans, specifications, selections, and other available information when preparing estimates.
  • Obtain and incorporate pricing for labor, materials, subcontractors, and other project costs.
  • Review estimates for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate pricing.
  • Identify missing information, discrepancies, or potential issues before projects move into production.
  • Revise estimates as project scope, selections, or pricing changes.
  • Prepare proposals, allowances, and change orders as needed.
  • Work with the sales and design team to ensure estimates accurately reflect the proposed project.
  • Maintain accurate estimating information within Job Tread.
Contracts & Job Tread Data Entry
  • Begin the process of transferring approved estimate information into project contracts.
  • Enter project scope, pricing, selections, allowances, materials, subcontractors, and other relevant information into Job Tread.
  • Ensure project information is complete and accurate before handing the project off to the Designer/Sales team.
  • Maintain organized and accurate electronic project documentation.
  • Update project information when scope, selections, pricing, or other details change.
  • Use Job Tread to support estimating, contracts, project information, scheduling, and other production-related activities.
Production Coordination
  • Coordinate the transition from estimating into production.
  • Work closely with the Designer/Sales team to ensure accurate and complete project information is transferred.
  • Coordinate material ordering based on project requirements and established schedules.
  • Track material availability and anticipated delivery dates.
  • Coordinate deliveries and help ensure materials are available when needed for production.
  • Communicate with subcontractors regarding project scope, scheduling, availability, and other requirements.
  • Coordinate subcontractor scheduling and help ensure subcontractors have the information needed to perform their work.
  • Monitor project-related details and follow up on outstanding materials, subcontractor needs, or other items that could affect production.
  • Communicate changes or potential delays to the appropriate team members.
Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination
  • Contact vendors and subcontractors to obtain pricing, availability, lead times, and other project information.
  • Establish clear expectations regarding scope, materials, and scheduling.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Follow up on outstanding quotes, orders, deliveries, and scheduling commitments.
  • Help resolve issues involving materials, deliveries, subcontractors, or project information.
Team & Client Support
  • Work collaboratively with sales, design, production, vendors, subcontractors, and other team members.
  • Assist with questions related to estimates, project scope, materials, contracts, and production requirements.
  • Help identify and communicate issues before they create delays or additional costs.
  • Support the team in maintaining a positive client experience.
  • Communicate professionally and promptly when project information or expectations change.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in construction estimating, remodeling, residential construction, or a closely related field.
