General InformationStudent Case Administrators (SCAs) are undergraduate students who conduct one‑on‑one Individual Accountability Case Reviews for students who are alleged to have violated university policy. In Individual Accountability Case Reviews, SCAs evaluate evidence to determine whether or not the Responding Party is responsible for violating policy and, if applicable, assign outcomes. Student Case Administrators are undergraduate staff members in the Office of Student Accountability and Restorative Practices who participate in staff training and professional development;
assist with various programs, outreach opportunities, and educational programs; and collaborate in the recruitment of volunteers. Student Case Administrators are selected in collaboration with the Student Government Association.
Disclaimer: There are three types of Student Case Administrators. This position is focused on working with OSARP’s Restorative Practices. The other SCA positions focus on working with OSARP’s Personal Success programs or OSARP’s Substance Education programs. Duties and ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate a commitment to the Office of Student Accountability and Restorative Practices, its mission and its outcomes, and to the value statements of the Division of Student Affairs and the University.
Maintain confidentiality as required by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act regarding the non‑disclosure of educational records; maintain confidentiality of other sensitive information.
Hear cases for students alleged to have violated JMU policies; weigh evidence to determine if policy was violated and, if applicable, assign appropriate educational outcomes.
Actively participate in weekly meetings pertaining to hearing cases.
Serve as a key staff for Restorative Practices tasks, including but not limited to:
- Assist with the coordination and facilitation of Restorative Processes and programs, which may include workshops, classes, and Circle Processes, as deemed appropriate. These facilitations of processes and programs could be in the evening, usually numbering up to 4‑5 a semester based on the needs of the office.
- Schedule and conduct one‑on‑one Restorative Intake meetings with students, as deemed appropriate.
- Actively participate in weekly Restorative Practices team meetings.
- Participate in community outreach initiatives.
- Assist with marketing efforts for Restorative Practices.
- Assist in the maintenance of Restorative Practices case information, electronic documents, and other information.
