Position SummaryDevelops and implements an instructional program that will effectively provide the best possible education for each student.
Qualifications- Possesses or qualifies for a Virginia Collegiate Professional license with specific endorsement in the area to which assigned (Mathematics and/or SPED preferred).
- Possesses outstanding knowledge and skill in the assigned instructional area and demonstrates enthusiasm for teaching and the learning process.
- Demonstrates knowledge of instructional strategies and skills related to scientifically‑based research and its implementation.
- Proficiency in public speaking and written communication.
- Emotionally mature, objective and sensitive to people and their concerns; able to handle responsibility, work independently, and maintain collaborative relationships.
- Experience working directly with individuals and families from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Familiarity with equity and inclusion frameworks; models non‑discriminatory practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to diverse audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using office/instructional equipment and technology (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, email).
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and personal characteristics essential for working effectively with students, teachers, administrators, and the community.
- Establishes and implements daily written lesson plans.
- Evaluates student learning and revises instruction accordingly.
- Structures learning to encourage independent thinking.
- Prepares and utilizes instructional materials and technology resources.
- Maintains appropriate expectations for all students.
- Differentiates instruction.
- Maintains appropriate classroom behavior.
- Demonstrates knowledge of subject/grade.
- Utilizes strategies to meet class objectives, student needs, and abilities.

- Maintains appropriate state licensure; participates in mandatory professional development and mandatory training.
- Follows safety procedures and properly maintains equipment.
- Actively attends mandatory meetings.
- Confirms compliance with school division policies and HCPS Strategic Plan.
- Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Light work, lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently. Must engage in regular travel around school premises and interact with students, staff, and the community. Not exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
EVALUATIONPerformance will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations governing mandatory personnel assessment.
