General Information

The School of Nursing at James Madison University is accepting applications for part-time adjunct clinical instructors to teach in‑person undergraduate nursing clinical and laboratory courses during the academic year. Instruction may occur during daytime, evening, and weekend hours depending on program needs. This position is not eligible for benefits.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach across a variety of undergraduate nursing specialty areas, including medical‑surgical nursing, older adult health, women’s health, child health, psychiatric‑mental health nursing, and community/public health nursing.
  • Supervise and evaluate students in clinical and laboratory settings.
  • Collaborate with course faculty to support student learning and course outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Active RN licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing with specialty certification or a master’s degree in nursing.
  • Doctoral degree in nursing or a related field is preferred.
  • Recent clinical practice experience is required.
  • Previous undergraduate clinical teaching experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, strong communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a welcoming learning environment.
  • Ability to meet all university and clinical agency compliance requirements.
