Primary FunctionAssists teachers in providing for the individual needs of the student in order for each student to achieve his/her maximum academic and social potential.
Qualifications- Completed 2 years of college (associate’s and/or bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Proficiency in spoken and written communication.
- Ability to establish and follow detailed work procedures with speed and accuracy.
- Bilingual ability preferred.
- Emotionally mature, objective, and sensitive to the needs of others; works independently and maintains collaborative relationships with students, families, and co‑workers.
- Effectively demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions.
- Experience working directly with individuals and families from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Familiarity with equity and inclusion frameworks; models non‑discriminatory practices in all activities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting to diverse audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with office/instructional equipment and technology, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities for working with students, teachers, administrators and the community.
- Conduct learning exercises (instruction) to the whole class, small groups, and individual students.
- Inform the teacher of any special information or concerns about an individual student.
- Assist the teacher in meeting the individual instructional, behavioral, and daily living needs of the students, including personal hygiene tasks.
- Assist with record keeping, filing, organizing materials and preparing instructional/classroom materials.
- Support an inviting and functional classroom or learning environment.
- Provide clerical assistance as required.
- Assist with supervision of children.
- Serve as chief source of information for substitute teachers in the area.
- Provide lunch supervision and/or bus duties as assigned.
- Substitute for teachers when needed.
- Take industry‑standard precautions to protect students, staff, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Participate in staff development and training to keep materials, supplies and skills up‑to‑date.
- Follow safety procedures and properly maintain equipment.
- Actively participate in and attend all required meetings.
- Maintain confidentiality when appropriate.
- Comply with school division policies, regulations, procedures and the HCPS Strategic Plan.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Light work, lifting up to 25 lbs occasionally, up to 10 lbs frequently; regular travel throughout the school; vocal communication, hearing, and visual acuity required for daily tasks; no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
EvaluationPerformance will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on the evaluation of administrative or licensed personnel.

Salary: $25,582 to $42,207 per year
