About This Role
The Assistant Teacher will be responsible supporting the lead teacher with the general supervision and management of the assigned classroom. They will create a nurturing environment for the children in their care. The Assistant Teacher will be familiar with all licensing guidelines and ensure a safe environment with quality care always being a top priority. They will inspire the children in their care to be lifelong learners by promoting social, physical and cognitive development.
WhatYou’ll Do
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist the teacher in planning and implementing the daily program, including the following:
- Treat each child with dignity and respect.
- Recognize and consider the individual needs of each child in relation to cultural and socio-economic background, disabilities, special talents and interests, style and pace of learning.
- Nurture and love the children in the program.
- Help children learn to think creatively, to solve problems independently and to respect themselves and others.
- Supervise the classroom, according to the plans of the teacher, when the teacher is out of the room.
- Help with meals.
- Assist the teacher in other appropriate ways.
- Maintain professional attitudes, behavior and dress at all times while on duty. This includes using proper channels to air problems and complaints.
- Participate in professional organizations that work for the improvement of early childhood education.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding children and their families.
- Promote a good rapport among staff members.
- Share with the teacher the responsibility of maintaining a clean room.
- Attend outside workshops when appropriate.
- Be actively involved with the children.
- Communicate in a friendly and professional manner with parents, visitors, families and participants in the Adult Day Care Center.
We are looking for dependable, energetic and hard working individuals who must be at least 18 and have:
- high school diploma or equivalent
- training or experience to meet the state requirements
CPR & First Aid Training, Medication Administrative Training
