General Information:

The Office of Disability Services (ODS) at James Madison University (JMU) is seeking a talented, motivated person to work as a part-time Exam Accommodations Assistant.
This is a 9-month position that corresponds with the JMU fall and spring semesters:
August through May. This posting is for a part-time wage position with no benefits. This position is limited to a maximum of 1,500 hours per year (May 1 to April 30), with an average of 29 hours per week.
The regular shift is six to eight hours per day, Monday – Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. with alternate hours during Final Exam Week (December and May).
Due to the access this position has to undergraduate records, current JMU Undergraduate students are not eligible for this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the ODS Assistant Director, Exam & Note taking Accommodations, the Exam Accommodations Assistant will support exam accommodations and proctoring efforts.
More specifically, the Exam Accommodations Assistant will:

  • Administer accommodated examinations in accordance with university, departmental, and testing center policies while maintaining academic integrity and a secure testing environment.
  • Check students into and out of the testing center, and ensure approved testing accommodations are implemented accurately and consistently.
  • Monitor testing spaces to maintain a quiet, distraction-reduced environment and provide routine supervision of students during examinations.
  • Respond to routine student questions and address testing concerns during exam appointments, referring complex situations, policy questions, or unusual circumstances to the Team Lead, Coordinator, or Assistant Director as appropriate.
