Job Summary

Responsible for originating residential mortgage loans so that borrowers receive the best possible customer service and speed of origination. This includes delivering proper disclosures, collecting documentation, and providing excellent customer service. Follows company policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely closing. Multiple positions are available throughout our market. Positions are based in Augusta and Shenandoah Counties.

Core Responsibilities
  • Work closely with assigned loan processor to promote communication and ensure quality service delivery throughout the company and with external customers.
  • Marketing and relationship building with realtors, builders, and other business partners, spending at least 60% of working time out of the office to network and originate mortgage loans to meet or exceed agreed upon production goals and all required legal lending guidelines.
  • Maintain a complete and thorough knowledge of products, secondary market guidelines, individual investor guidelines, company policies and procedures, and follow all regulatory procedures including RESPA, Dodd‑Frank, etc.
  • Cross‑sell bank products when given the opportunity.
  • Attend staff meetings / trainings.
  • Take education classes as assigned by the company through the ABA.
  • Provide all mortgage clients with knowledgeable mortgage advice that will benefit the client.
  • Lock interest rates for the appropriate timeframe and ensure they do not expire.
  • Structure mortgage loans and input them into loan origination software.
  • Obtain and review consumer credit reports.
  • Ensure loans are approved through the appropriate AUS system.
  • Send disclosures to borrowers in the required time frames.
  • Collect initial documentation from borrowers (paystubs, tax returns, assets, etc.).
  • Update and advise all parties involved in the mortgage transaction.
  • Maintain complete discretion and confidence of all information pertaining to loan packages and clients personal information.
  • Perform other related work as required.

  • Proficient in Excel and Word.
  • Professionalism in dealing with customers and fellow employees.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of two years of experience in loan origination or an account executive/sales position. Desired previous secondary market loan origination experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • NMLS registration.
  • Current driver's license to travel to other bank branch locations and other bank-related travel.
Physical Demands
  • Employee must sit regularly; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
