General Information:

The University Health Center (UHC) is a comprehensive, student-centered clinic providing inclusive, confidential medical services designed to support student well‑being and academic success. The UHC delivers a broad range of clinical services—including primary and acute care, nurse triage, nutrition counseling, athletic training, and on‑site lab and pharmacy—in a collaborative, safety-oriented environment that prioritizes evidence-based practice and patient rights. This role offers an inspiring opportunity for nursing leaders to elevate care standards, strengthen a culture of compassion and excellence, and guide a talented clinical team dedicated to patient advocacy and evidence-based practice.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead and supervise the nursing team, including overseeing staffing and scheduling processes, training programs, budget management and professional development efforts. This position has several direct reports.

Oversee daily clinical operations in partnership with the Medical Director and Associate Director of Business Operations.

Manage quality improvement initiatives, patient safety efforts, and clinical risk assessment.

Contribute to departmental planning, policy development, and decision-making as part of the UHC Director's Group.

Serve as liaison to campus partners and support outreach, marketing, and website needs.

Provide direct patient care as needed within all areas of the University Health Center.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Current RN license in the state of VA
  • Recent clinical experience in nursing
  • Experience working in a nursing leadership role

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or related field
  • Experience working in college health or with adolescent and young adult patient populations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community or public health nursing principles and practices
