Education Specialist- Echocardiography

Sentara Rockingham Memorial Hospital is hiring an Education Specialist for the Echocardiography Department
. This is a Flexi day shift role in Harrisonburg, VA!

The Education specialist performs a variety of computer and education project development/management tasks to meet the needs of the Educational Services to the facility. Education Specialist is responsible for classroom and clinical instruction of students to include but not limited to: developing and providing classroom and clinical learning experiences; teaching, coaching and mentoring on the clinical unit; tutoring of and practicing with students;

and evaluating student performance. The Education Specialist also may collaborate with accredited educational institutions to coordinate the placement of students within the organization.

This role will focus on current student learners in practicum or clinical rotations at Sentara RMH.

Flexi day shift, 8 hours per week.

The Sentara RMH Medical Center echocardiography lab is considered high volume with close to 9,500 procedures performed annually. The lab works closely with our invasive cardiology (structural heart, electrophysiology, diagnostic/interventional cath) and cardiothoracic surgery services. Each Team member is expected to perform about 7 exams per day. Specific exams include: adult 2D and 3D transthoracic and transesophageal echo, myocardial strain, contrast (DEFINITY), agitated saline (bubble study), exercise stress echo and dobutamine stress echo.

Preliminary reports are generated in Pro Solv (Structured Report SW Application). Clinical equipment include state of the art Philips Epic ultrasound systems and EPIC (electronic medical record). Both inpatient and outpatient echo services are located on the Sentara RMH Medical Center main campus within the non-invasive cardiology lab.

• Bachelor Level degree required

• Candidates must have at least one of the four certifications (RDCS, RCCS, RCS, or ACS)
• BLS required

• 2 years of related experience required.
• Adult 2D and 3D transthoracic and transesophageal echo, myocardial strain, contrast (DEFINITY), agitated saline (bubble study), exercise stress echo and dobutamine stress echo required.
• Teaching experience preferred.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of echo cardiographic techniques, equipment, and industry standards required.
