Procurement Business Analyst

James Madison University (JMU) is seeking a collaborative and technology-focused professional to serve as a key resource for Procurement Services by supporting procurement and contract management technologies, analyzing business processes, and implementing solutions that improve efficiency and service delivery. The role works closely with University stakeholders, technology partners, and vendors to support system operations, reporting, training, and continuous improvement initiatives. As part of JMU's ongoing ERP implementation, this position will play an integral role in the transition to new eProcurement and Contracts Management systems, helping ensure successful implementation, adoption, and long-term system effectiveness.

Procurement Systems Support
- Serve as the functional and technical lead for Procurement Services technology systems, including eVA, contract management systems, ERP/eProcurement platforms, and other procurement-related applications. Manage system administration activities, including configuration, workflow management, user access, security, testing, issue resolution, and ongoing system maintenance. Ensure procurement systems comply with University, Commonwealth of Virginia, and applicable security, data governance, and compliance requirements. Assist in planning, testing, implementation, and communication efforts associated with system upgrades, enhancements, and new technology implementations.

Provide technical and functional support to procurement personnel, campus users, and suppliers, troubleshooting system issues and developing effective business solutions. Develop and deliver training, user documentation, and educational resources for internal staff and the campus community to support effective system utilization. Collaborate with University stakeholders, vendors, and technology partners to identify opportunities for process improvements, workflow optimization, and automation.

Data Analytics and Business Process Improvement
- Develop complex reports, queries, dashboards, and data visualizations that support Procurement Services operations, strategic decision-making, compliance monitoring, and performance assessment. Conduct data analysis and research to support procurement projects, sourcing initiatives, operational reviews, and internal and external reporting requirements. Partner with Information Technology and campus stakeholders to evaluate technology solutions and perform cost-benefit and process analyses. Analyze procurement and University business processes to identify opportunities for increased efficiency, effectiveness, automation, and continuous improvement.

Maintain comprehensive knowledge of procurement operations, spend data, contracts, sourcing methodologies, and applicable procurement regulations to support informed decision-making. Document business processes, system requirements, and operational procedures to support consistency, knowledge sharing, and process improvement initiatives. Perform system testing, data validation, and quality assurance activities to ensure data integrity and system reliability.

Technology Leadership and Team Support
- Serve as a technology resource and subject matter expert for Procurement Services staff. Provide guidance and support to internal users on procurement systems, software applications, reporting tools, and related technologies. Administer user roles, permissions, and workstation-related technology functions for Procurement Services personnel. Lead technology-related projects and initiatives, ensuring priorities, timelines, and stakeholder expectations are effectively managed. Promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, customer service, and continuous improvement within Procurement Services.

Supplier Diversity (SWaM) Support
- Support the University's SWaM supplier diversity initiatives. Promote supplier outreach and engagement opportunities. Assist with communication and education efforts related to SWaM.
