Position:Interpreter - Special Education
Reports to:Director of Equity and Community Engagement
Contract:Temporary Services Agreement
Salary:$35 per hour
FLSA Status:Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:The Interpreter will provide consecutive/simultaneous interpretation and limited translation services for the Special Education meetings on an as needed basis.
The interpreter will be responsible for ensuring their availability including but not limited to:
- Responding to phone, text and/or email messages in a timely fashion
- Confirming assignments
- Completing and submitting time sheets
- Attend necessary interpreter trainings
The candidate will be fluent in English and a target language. Proficiency in public speaking and written communication to express and exchange ideas. Hold at least have a high school diploma or G.E.D. Good communication skills and cultural knowledge of the community are essential qualities in the successful candidate.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:Light work, lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities;
and subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. Regular contact with staff members is required. Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
