Job Description
The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) works under the direction of the Plasma Center Manager and Center Physician to support plasma center operations, including donor eligibility determination, management of donor adverse events, review of laboratory test results, and donor notification of unsuitable test results.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility and manage informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self‑exclusion.
- Conduct medical history interviews, physical examinations, and blood testing, including review of Serologic Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of physicians’ standing orders and donor transport.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical issues concerning donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and coordinate further evaluation with occupational health/ER and EHS guidance.
- Coordinate pandemic investigations when authorized by EHS and support community pandemic threat efforts.
- Provide environmental, health, and safety (EHS) support at the center level.
- High school diploma or recognized nursing education program equivalent.
- Valid licensed or certified state license (LPN or LVN) in the state of assignment.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- State licensure for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of FDA‑approved Bio Life Medical Support Specialist training.
- Minimum two years of clinical or hospital experience.
U.S. hourly wage range: $24.32 - $33.44. Eligible for short‑term incentives and up to 80 sick hours and 120 paid vacation hours for new hires.
