Sentara RMH Medical Center is now hiring a Registered Nurse for the Medical Oncology unit. This is a 36‑bed medical‑surgical & telemetry unit with a subpopulation of oncology, chemotherapy, and end‑of‑life care. Our team provides compassionate, high‑quality care to a diverse patient population.

Duties/ResponsibilitiesThe Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care—teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.
The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
This 10‑week Transition to Practice (TTP) program focuses on the orientation transition experience with intentional knowledge support and skill acquisition for practice in Medical‑Surgical areas. For new graduates, this TTP program is the start of a comprehensive 6‑month residency program to support your transition to practice.
Program Includes- Formal delivery of fundamental nursing concepts and standards with in‑person sessions utilizing case studies, gaming, simulation, and skills labs
- Exposure to Sentara policies and evidence‑based practice guidelines
- Hands‑on experience alongside a trained nurse preceptor
- Opportunity to share experiences and network with peers in a safe, protected environment
- A series of virtual professional development sessions with mentoring (optional for experienced nurses)
Associates or Bachelor’s Degree – Nursing (Required)
Certification/LicensureRegistered Nurse (Required)
ExperiencePrevious acute care experience (Preferred)
