Position Overview & General Responsibilities
At Sunnyside Retirement Community, we’re seeking compassionate and dedicated Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to join our dynamic healthcare team. As a CNA, you’ll be at the heart of providing person-centered care and building meaningful relationships with residents daily. You will assist with activities of daily living—such as grooming, bathing, dining, or mobility—and interact with residents, families, and team members.
We offer a variety of shift options—Full‑Time, Part‑Time, and PRN—to accommodate your lifestyle. Pay ranges from $17 to $21 per hour, with differences based on job‑related skills, experience, and qualifications. Shift differentials are available: +$2.00/hr for evening hours (3 pm‑11 pm), +$2.50/hr for nighttime hours (11 pm‑7 am), and +$3.00/hr for weekend work (in addition to the evening/night differential).

- Completed 120‑hour certification courses in Geriatric Nursing or currently enrolled.
- Passed the Virginia NACEP test after completing the 120‑hour certification course.
- Current Nursing Assistant license through the Virginia Board of Nursing.
- CPR certification or ability to obtain.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
- Multi‑tasking while maintaining detail orientation and organizational skills.
- Capacity to work in potentially stressful situations and respond to medical emergencies.
- Processing information accurately and taking appropriate action based on available data.
- Strong customer service skills and a hospitality approach when engaging with all individuals.
The job requires frequently standing for long periods and routinely sitting, standing, reaching, lifting, bending, kneeling, stooping, climbing, pushing, and pulling items weighing 60 lbs or less, and occasionally more. Manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures are required. Exposure to body fluids and infection control practices are necessary. Employees will operate patient care equipment such as electric and manual high/low hospital beds, wheelchairs, mechanical lifts, scales, and more.
Compliance with universal precautions and training requirements set by federal and state regulations and Sunnyside is mandatory.
$17 – $21 per hour
