Education
Associates Degree or Bachelor's degree – Nursing (Required)
Certification/LicensureActive Registered Nurse license (Required)
ExperiencePrevious acute care experience (Required)
Duties/ResponsibilitiesAt least 1 year of Emergency Room experience (preferred)
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.
The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
This 10-week TTP program focuses on the orientation transition experience with intentional knowledge support and skill acquisition for practice in Medical-Surgical areas.
Program includes- Formal delivery of fundamental nursing concepts and standards via foundational ENO (Elsevier’s Emergency Nursing Orientation) modules blended with in-person sessions utilizing case studies, gaming, simulation, and skills labs
- Exposure to Sentara policies and evidence-based practice guidelines as recommended by the Emergency Nursing Association (ENA)
- Hands-on experience in the ED alongside a trained nurse preceptor
- Opportunity to share your experiences/ networking with peers in a safe, protected environment
- A series of virtual professional development sessions with mentoring (optional for experienced nurses
We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $41.93 - $61.01 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
