Sentara RMH Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for Mother/Baby and Nursery! Preferred applicants will have experience specifically in Mother Baby/Nursery and will cross train into other areas of the unit. Full-Time nights:
Three 12-hour shifts 7P to 7A per week with weekend rotation on Saturday and Sunday. Self Scheduled call 32-40 hours per 6 week schedule. Must be within 30 minutes of facility for call purposes. Sign on bonus up to $20,000 available for qualified candidates. About the LDRP:
Sentara RMH Medical Centers Family Birthplace includes 10 private bed L&D, and a 20 bed post-partum mother/baby. Our Level 2 newborn specialty care nursery has a 1 to 1 ratio while our intermediate care babies have a 1 to 3 nursing ratio. Our LDRP unit also offers post operative care for complex GYN and Breast surgical needs. This specialty area has a 100-member team cross trained to offer best in class healthcare to Harrisonburg, VA, and surrounding areas.
The schedule is primarily 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends and holiday requirements. - Family Birthplace! The Women’s Health Transition to Practice program will focus on the transition experience with support and skill acquisition for practice in Labor & Delivery (L&D) (14 weeks training), Labor-Delivery-Recovery-Postpartum (LDRP) (16 weeks training), Antepartum (12 weeks training), Mother/Baby (12 weeks), or Nursery (12 weeks). Program includes:
- Formal delivery of fundamental Women’s Health nursing concepts and standards via Perinatal Orientation and Education Program (POEP) modules blended with in‑person sessions utilizing case studies, gaming, simulation, and skills labs
- Exposure to Sentara policies and evidence‑based practice guidelines as recommended by the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses
- Hands‑on experience in Women’s Health alongside a trained nurse preceptor or Mentor within department.

- Series of virtual professional development sessions with mentoring (optional for experienced nurses)
Education
- Degree or diploma in Registered Nursing
- BSN or MSN Preferred
- Women's Care
- Perinatal departments; NRP within 6 months of hire. - BLS within 90 days of hire
- Registered nursing license required
- EFM
- Electronic Fetal monitoring preferred - Certified Obstetrics Nursing preferred
- 2 years of acute care registered nurse experience in Women's health preferred
- 1 year of acute care registered nursing experience highly preferred
- Mother/Baby or Nursery specific Experience preferred
- Strong understanding of patient safety protocols.
- Manages complex cases in fast‑paced environments
- Communication with patients and providers
