Overview:

Sentara RMH Medical Center is now hiring a Registered Nurse for the 4 East Medical Surgical unit. This position is ideal for candidates who have experience or interest in caring for surgical patients that have had General Surgery, Gastrointestinal, OB-Gyn, Orthopedics, Vascular, Urology, Nephrology, and more.

Sign on bonus up to $20,000 offered plus relocation assistance (if specified criteria is met).

Nights - 7:00 PM - 7:00 AMWeekly Scheduled

Hours:

36 hours (3/12 Hours )Weekend:
Rotating

Education RN-Associate’s Degree, orRN-Bachelor’s Degree, orRN-Diploma, orRN-Master’s Degree Certification/Licensure Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing

Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire

Experience

Previous acute care experience (Preferred)
Duties/Responsibilities The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.

The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

Transition to Practice/Nurse Residency Program This 10-week TTP program focuses on the orientation transition experience with intentional knowledge support and skill acquisition for practice in Medical-Surgical areas. For new graduates, this TTP program is the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program to support your transition to practice.

Program includes:
• Formal delivery of fundamental nursing concepts and standards with in-person sessions utilizing case studies, gaming, simulation, and skills labs
• Exposure to Sentara policies and evidence-based practice guidelines
• Hands-on experience alongside a trained nurse preceptor
• Opportunity to share your experiences/ networking with peers in a safe, protected environment
• A series of virtual professional development sessions with mentoring (optional for experienced nurses)
In this role, you will work closely with surgeons and the multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional postoperative care. In addition to postoperative care, we occasionally provide care to patients with general medical needs.

The base pay range for full-time employment is $41.93 - $61.01 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
