Maintenance Technician / Mechanic

The Athletic Field Maintenance Technician is a full-time position with benefits and a preferred hiring range of $20.05 - $22.06 per hour (equivalent to $41,704 - $45,884 annually); however, an exact salary will be dependent upon the selected candidate's qualifications/experience and in compliance with City policy. Applicants who do not meet the qualifications for the Technician level may be considered for another level within the department at an annual rate commensurate with applicant qualifications.
Responsibilities- Participate in daily operations, including but not limited to mowing operations, field grooming, field striping, drag patterns, mound and home plate area preparation, weed control, pruning, fertilizing, aerating, and other turf and athletic field maintenance practices;
- Conduct inspections to determine the condition of fields and parks prior to recommending and performing maintenance care;
- Perform proper handling, spill prevention/response, and cleanup procedures for fuels and other pollutants to minimize entry into the stormwater system;
- Perform preventive and scheduled maintenance and minor repairs on equipment;
- Operate a City vehicle in the performance of job duties;
- Perform detailed vehicle/equipment pre-trip inspections and clean personal items/trash from the vehicle after use;
- Respond to citizen inquiries and complaints effectively, courteously, and tactfully;
- Assist with snow and ice removal as needed;
- Perform related tasks as required.

- High School diploma or GED and moderate (1-3 years) experience in the performance of general maintenance, groundskeeping, or parks maintenance work. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be used to meet this requirement. Trade certifications and coursework in maintenance, horticulture, forestry, or related fields are preferred but not required.
- At least 18 years of age by hire date (anticipated 4 weeks after initial application date).
- Valid driver's license.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, and holidays, required.

The selected candidate for this position will be subject to the following screenings and must receive satisfactory results:
- Industry-Specific Post-Offer Physical Exam;
- DMV Driving Record Review;
- Criminal Background Investigation.
