Physical requirements: This is operative work requiring the exertion of up to and exceeding 50 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects. Regular required tasks include sitting; talking or hearing; using hands to finger, handle, feel or operate equipment; and reaching with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk and stand sometimes on uneven surfaces;
in addition, occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Visual acuity is required for preparing and maintaining fields and observing general surroundings and activities.
Certification: Valid Driver’s License
Job SummaryA part-time, hourly position working varying hours; evening and weekend work required. This position will assist in all aspects of the park maintenance program with a primary focus on Weekend Tournaments for Baseball and Softball.
Essential Job FunctionsAn employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential duties:
- Open and close park gates and facilities as needed, dependent on park events, to prevent unauthorized gatherings and use of park facilities
- Ensure that ball fields are safe and ready for play by monitoring, preparing, and maintaining fields as necessary before, during and after events
- Assist in event management including field set-up and tear down, minor equipment and field repairs
- Crowd control and assist in enforcing park rules
- Clean restrooms and perform other custodial duties as needed
- Empty refuse containers at the park and transport to the trash container
- Perform related tasks as required
- Basic knowledge of ball field maintenance
- Basic knowledge of grounds equipment operation
- Basic level of skill to be able to perform a variety of landscaping and grounds keeping tasks
- Basic level of maintenance skill to perform minor repairs, painting, unclogging drains, changing light bulbs and other related tasks including cleaning restrooms and emptying refuse containers
- Read and follow written and oral instruction
- Work with minimal supervision
- Work with people of all ages
- Regular work attendance is required
