Summary
This position is responsible for ensuring that the company's practices comply with IATF
16949 regulatory and quality requirements and providing consultation to management to foster continual improvement toward excellence. The role focuses primarily on quality assurance, managing and administering quality policies, responding to customer complaints, and proactively pursuing improvements to meet customer quality requirements. The candidate will use problem‑solving methodology to identify and correct root causes and actively communicate and engage the team in quality initiatives, while providing technical support for the plant in the assessment, implementation, and maintenance of quality systems that meet or exceed TS16949 standards.
- Assist in developing, documenting and implementing IATF 16949 quality systems such as PFMEAs, Control Plans, etc.
- Manage scrap reduction and process capability improvement studies with necessary project management tools (e.g., Gantt Charts, project charters, scope, and timeline).
- Communicate and coordinate response to internal and external quality issues with suppliers, customers, management, and production personnel and provide appropriate follow‑up.
- Conduct IATF 16949 internal audits and develop appropriate action items.
- Lead and facilitate corrective action (8D) problem‑solving teams using root cause analysis and problem‑solving methodologies.
- Train personnel on new quality plans and work instructions as well as statistical and problem‑solving techniques.
- Maintain knowledge of inspection tools and gauges, including aiding with gauge calibration and Gauge R&R/capability studies.
- Maintain personal computer and data collection equipment within area of responsibility.
- Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation; responsible for the pre‑production approval process (PPAP).
- Devises sampling procedures and designs.
- Develop forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, quality, and reliability data.
- Establish a program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment, testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities.
- Develop and implement methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devise methods to assess cost and responsibility.
- Review quality trends, assist in identifying root causes of problems, institute corrective actions, and verify effectiveness.
- Interact with customers and supplier representatives on quality issues.
- Direct workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
- Compile and write training material and conduct training sessions on quality control activities.

- Working knowledge of gages such as dial calipers, micrometers, indicators, etc.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to interact with employees in a professional manner.
- Ability to speak and write English fluently.
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast‑paced environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
- Ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division quickly and accurately.
- Associate's degree in Engineering Technology or similar degree or equivalent knowledge/experience in quality assurance.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- Certified IATF
16949/ISO 9001 auditor preferred. - Industrial or automotive experience (tier 1 or OEM experience).
- Understanding of quality processes such as APQP, FMEA, SPC, MSA and PPAP.
- Process improvement in reducing scrap and defects.
