HVAC Repair Senior Technician
The Facilities Management Department at James Madison University is accepting applications for an HVAC Repair Senior Technician. This is a day shift position with rotating on-call responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs repairs and maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration systems and related equipment.
- Completes inspection on equipment and repairs problems in timely manner.
- Documents refrigerant usage for EPA records.
- Properly installs equipment to code.
- Provides input for the replacement of HVAC and refrigeration systems, when needed.
- Performs seasonal maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems to provide reliable and efficient operation.
- Follows JMU and manufacturer's procedures.
- Assists associates when needed.
- Assists with training of other technicians.
- Responsible for managing jobs, ordering needed parts, keeping tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Effectively manages time.
- Keeps shop, parts, materials and paperwork organized.
- Cleans and services tools and tests equipment.
Qualifications:
- Considerable demonstrated working knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration and related equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to use various test instruments to troubleshoot and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems and to repair such systems and equipment.
- Effective organizational skills, attention to detail and a positive attitude.
- Effective skills in communicating clear and concise instructions both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to assist other technicians and also have the ability to work independently.
- Must be available for on-call/overtime.
- Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certification.
- At least 19 years old and have a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 24 months.
