General InformationJames Madison University’s Facilities Management is accepting applications for a Plumber Steamfitter Senior to perform Master level technical tasks in plumbing, gas, fire sprinkler, and steamfitting trades. This position requires participation in an on‑call rotation.
Duties and Responsibilities- Participates as a member of a team providing plumbing, steam, and other trade services to complete assigned projects.
- Services, maintains, inspects, and repairs plumbing, steam, fire sprinkler, food service, heating, and other equipment as assigned.
- Installs plumbing, steam, or other equipment as assigned. Installation may include design and/or specification elements.
- Assignments are completed in a timely and correct manner according to code, policy, and regulations.
- Records and provides information as requested.
- Communicates important information to the supervisor or other designated individuals.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with commercial, institutional, and residential plumbing, heating, steam equipment, fire sprinklers, food service equipment, welding, soldering, and plumbing code.
- Master level plumbing/steam fitting skills.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Skilled in dealing with a wide assortment of personalities, both directly and indirectly.
- Master plumber certification required within 2 years of hire.
- Backflow certification required within 2 years of hire.
- Valid driver’s license.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check and an acceptable motor vehicle record.
