Position

Description:

To serve as part of a team whereby 'all hands on deck' are required for timely preparation, service, and clean up in the school's food services department. An interest in and appreciation for children and teenagers is important. This position is specifically responsible for assisting with food items for lunch, delivering lunch to the elementary lower building, and cleaning up after lunch service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in transporting meals to the elementary school lower building in the provided school van using insulated carts.
  • Assist with food preparation as needed.
  • Do the daily and/or weekly cleaning, including sweeping and mopping both serving line areas, cleaning windows/doors.
  • Empty Dining Hall trash, compost and discarded milk. Clean trash cans as needed.
  • Report any maintenance or food supply item needs in a timely fashion.
  • Be cross-trained in other Dining Hall tasks for the purpose of filling-in when needed and team support.
  • Other duties as assigned by the DH Team Leader.
  • These responsibilities are subject to change as new routines develop.
  • Qualifications:
  • To read and write English and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must have the capacity to grasp and adjust to new and changing situations.
  • Manual dexterity and ability to work under pressure of time.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable and skilled in using the following equipment: knives, broom, mop, insulated food carts, hand washing, sinks, and dishwashers.
  • Ability to work as a team member, keeping the goal of preparing and serving food in a timely manner as the team’s focus.
  • Ability to relate well with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Working conditions and physical requirements require ease in lifting up to 40 pounds and spending long amounts of time on your feet.
  • Work days begin at 12:00 pm and end between 2:00 & 3:00, Monday through Friday when school is in session.
