Job Description for Peer Tutors at Campbellsville University at the Harrodsburg Center
1. Peer tutors will serve 10 hours a week tutoring student who need to learn academic skills to be successful in their classes.
2. Although the peer tutors are expected to tutor all students who seek help, an effort will be made to channel students to the peer tutor that has knowledge of the student's need or major.
3. Peer tutors are encouraged to seek instructors and professors who can advise them on the instruction the peer tutors are passing on to their fellow students seeking help.
4. Peer students will keep a record of all students seeking help and the nature of the help they are seeking.
5. The tutor is helping and assisting students but not doing their work for them.
6. Peer tutors can and should encourage those they assist to set up follow-up appointments to check on their progress.
7. Peer tutors are expected to maintain an "atmosphere of study" in the Academic Support Center and be prepared to curb idle chatter, playful bantering, music of all types, and noise in the center. Nevertheless, reasonable discussion between the tutor and the student they are aiding can and must take place.
