Classroom Teacher

Mercer County Schools – Intermediate, Harrodsburg, Kentucky

Job Description

Prepare, present, and evaluate instructional material for pupil learning experiences. Develop, enforce, and interpret student behavior policies with students, parents, and community. Execute board and administrative policies within the classroom and at related activities. Maintain attendance and grading records. Work collaboratively with parents, principals, Directors of Pupil Personnel, Instructional Supervisors, fellow teachers, and other staff to support student development.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare lesson plans, objectives, and conduct instruction across various grades or subject areas.
  • Develop teaching outlines aligned with curriculum guides, Kentucky Core Content, Kentucky Program of Studies, and NCLB requirements.
  • Use differentiated instruction to meet varying pupil abilities.
  • Stay current with new trends, methods, and subject developments in education.
  • Evaluate and refer students to appropriate programs for optimal learning.
  • Participate in planning and evaluation of school programs and extracurricular activities.
  • Maintain discipline and safety in the classroom and on school property.
  • Report signs of child abuse or neglect.
  • Keep detailed records of coursework, grades, and attendance per local and state regulations.
  • Refer students for counseling or guidance services as needed.
  • Assign grades and recommend student promotion or retention.
  • Compile required reports for the Commonwealth of Kentucky and Mercer County Board of Education.
  • Attend required meetings, conferences, and professional development sessions.
  • Implement safety programs and conduct emergency drills.
  • Document and report safety hazards and discipline notifications.
  • Provide required documentation on health, certification, and attendance.
  • Execute additional duties as directed by the principal or superintendent.
Minimum Qualifications

Valid Kentucky Teaching Certification.
