Description

The Vice President of Operations (VP of Operations) is a senior executive leader responsible for overseeing day-to-day operational performance across all programs, facilities, and service lines of the organization. This role ensures that operations align with the organization’s mission, regulatory requirements, strategic goals, and financial sustainability. The VP of Operations provides leadership to site directors and operational leaders, drives consistency and accountability across programs, and partners closely with Clinical, Compliance, HR, Finance, and IT leadership to ensure high-quality, compliant, and efficient service delivery.

Requirements

Operational Leadership
  • Provide executive oversight of all operational programs, facilities, and departments as assigned
  • Ensure consistent implementation of policies, procedures, and operational standards across all sites
  • Lead operational planning, execution, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and Executive Team in organizational planning and growth
Program & Facility Oversight
  • Oversee site directors and operational managers to ensure effective staffing, scheduling, and service delivery
  • Monitor facility operations, safety, and readiness to meet regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Support program launches, expansions, and transitions
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Partner with Compliance and Clinical leadership to ensure adherence to all federal, state, and accreditation requirements
  • Proactively identify operational risks and implement corrective action plans
  • Support audits, site visits, and regulatory reviews
Financial & Performance Management
  • Collaborate with Finance to monitor operational budgets, productivity, and cost controls
  • Ensure efficient use of resources while maintaining service quality
  • Use data and dashboards to track operational performance and outcomes
People & Culture Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and hold operational leaders accountable for performance and engagement
  • Partner with Human Resources on workforce planning, performance management, and leadership development
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and mission-driven service
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Clinical, Medical, Compliance, HR, Finance, IT, and Development teams
  • Ensure operational decisions support clinical quality, staff wellbeing, and organizational sustainability
Required Skills & Competencies
  • Strong executive-level leadership and decision-making skills
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-site operations
  • Financial and operational acumen with data-driven decision making
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills
  • High level of organizational, analytical, and problem-solving ability

    Ability to balance mission-driven care with operational accountability
  • Strong understanding of compliance, risk management, and quality assurance
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or related field)
  • Master’s degree preferred
Experience
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in operations
  • Prior experience in healthcare, behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, nonprofit, or human services strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-site or multi-program operations
  • Experience working in regulated environments
Mandatory Requirements
  • Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and credentialing requirements as applicable
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel between facilities
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends
  • Commitment to the organization’s mission, values, and ethical standards
