Employer's Name:
Howgill Lodge Camping & Glamping Site Location:
North Yorkshire

Howgill Lodge is a well‑established, highly rated Yorkshire Dales site known for its beautiful setting, high standards and loyal returning guests.

Many couples tell us they love the idea of working in the countryside but struggle to find roles that genuinely combine lifestyle, stability and hands‑on work. This role is designed for a couple who want exactly that.

Are you a practical, hard‑working couple who enjoy working closely together day to day, love the outdoors and take real pride in high standards?

We are looking for a dedicated couple to take hands‑on responsibility for the day‑to‑day operations of our busy camping and glamping site, leading from the front and supporting the wider team. This is a lifestyle role suited to people who enjoy practical work, working as a team and delivering excellent guest experiences, while being fully comfortable with the physical and recurring elements that come with hospitality operations.

What

the Role Involves

This is a full‑time, year‑round live‑in position with busier summer periods balanced by quieter winter months.

You will take shared responsibility across guest service, cleaning, site operations, maintenance and team coordination.

A large and important part of the role involves daily cleaning and accommodation turnarounds. That includes glamping units, shared facilities and laundry management. You will be responsible for maintaining detailed checklists and standards to ensure every guest arrives to a spotless, welcoming environment.

The role is more varied and fast‑paced in summer, with guest interaction, bookings, grounds work and site activity. In winter, the workload becomes quieter but focuses heavily on turnovers, cleaning, maintenance and preparation.

You should expect:

  • Hands‑on physical work including lifting, carrying, hot tub care, laundry loads and grounds upkeep
  • Outdoor work in all weather
  • Repeated daily operational tasks
  • Early mornings and occasional late evenings during peak season
  • Weekend and holiday working as standard
Key Responsibilities Guest Experience
  • Managing bookings, enquiries and check‑ins
  • Handling guest communication professionally and warmly
  • Resolving issues quickly and calmly
  • Upselling extras where appropriate
Site Standards & Cleaning
  • Daily cleaning of glamping units and shared facilities
  • Laundry and linen management
  • Maintaining and monitoring detailed cleaning checklists to ensure high standards
  • Upholding hotel‑style presentation standards across the site
Maintenance & Grounds
  • Carrying out routine site repairs and reporting larger issues when specialist support is required
  • Campsite, pathways, signage, car parks and grounds presentation
  • Hot tub and equipment checks
Team & Operations
  • Creating fair and effective rotas
  • Supporting staff training and performance
  • Stock control and ordering
  • Health & safety awareness
  • Creating and participating in the 24‑hour mobile phone rota and responding to urgent guest or site issues when on duty
Who This Role Suits
  • Enjoy practical, physical work
  • Take pride in cleanliness and organisation
  • Be resilient, reliable and self‑motivated
  • Work well together and communicate clearly
  • Understand hospitality standards and guest expectations
  • Be comfortable with routine tasks as well as seasonal variety
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
  • Have at least one partner confident with practical DIY and site maintenance tasks
  • Both partners should be equally comfortable with the hands‑on nature of the role and the physical elements involved
The Package
  • £25,500 per person salary plus live‑in three‑bedroom cottage and bills included (total package value £31,500 per person)
  • Two consecutive days off each week
  • Discounted stays for family and friends
