The Model and Inventory Assistant supports the clinical skills
curriculum by collaborating with the Coordinator of Clinical Skills to
design, build, and maintain high-quality teaching models. This position
ensures that models are functional, durable, and aligned with
curricular objectives while assisting with laboratory preparation.
Management of OPCVM inventory in conjunction with the Operations
Section. The role requires creativity, technical proficiency, and the
ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to enhance
veterinary education and maintain effective resource management
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid and current driver’s license
Additional Requirements:
The offer of employment is contingent upon the candidate meeting
all University driver eligibility requirements.
This position may require occasional overnight travel for
program-related activities.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in silicone-based molding, woodworking, construction,
or model-building
Knowledge of university program goals and objectives
Familiarity with the veterinary medical field
Relevant experience in higher education

Monitor the condition of existing models, performing routine maintenance, repairs, or replacements as needed

Maintain accurate documentation of the model construction process and specifications

Work in support of the main campus CIVET workshop and the Director of CVM Model Building at the Harrogate, TN campus

Assist with setup and breakdown of clinical skills laboratories, ensuring models, equipment, and consumables are available.

Support veterinary technicians and faculty during laboratory sessions as needed

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work and laboratory environment

Maintain accurate records of teaching models, tools, and supply inventory

Track usage and forecast needs to ensure adequate availability of resources

Coordinate ordering, receiving, storage, and distribution of supplies

Work collaboratively with faculty on interdisciplinary projects involving clinical skills models

Supervise veterinary student research assistants contributing to model development or inventory management

Participate in departmental, College, and University committees and initiatives.
