If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you. North Yorkshire Council are recruiting for a part time Social Worker to teams Specialist Services area.

As a Social Worker you will work closely with a variety of teams and agencies, including health colleagues, stronger communities and prevention teams, voluntary and independent sector, promoting health and wellbeing and preventing, reducing, and delaying need, in line with the key principles of the Care Act. You will work with people in a person-centred way, utilising their unique strengths and celebrating individuality.

Through strength-based assessments and interventions, you will support people with care and support needs and their carers to achieve their desired outcomes with a focus on their wellbeing. This will be reflected in the assessment and support plans that you complete in collaboration with the people you support, to ensure they are receiving meaningful interventions that make a positive difference to the lives they choose to lead.

We believe that a person’s community and social networks play a vital role in ensuring that we achieve the best outcomes for people. It will, therefore, be part of your role to think creatively when looking for solutions for individual needs. You will also have a good working knowledge of current adult social care legislation and application of the legislative principles, including the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act.

As a Social Worker in the Continuing Healthcare Team, you will be part of the multidisciplinary team working in partnerships with health colleagues, people and their families to assess and review Continuing Healthcare. You will bring a strong social care perspective to assessments and reviews, ensuring they are holistic and that people’s voices, wellbeing and the impact of their needs is central to decision-making and support planning.

While you will continue to utilise your skills in completing strengths-based assessments and safeguarding adults in line with the Care Act, you will do so within a specialised area of practice, developing expert knowledge of the ways in which health and social care can work collaboratively to best support people with complex needs to maintain their health, wellbeing and safety.

We work with people with a wide and varied range of needs, using social work skills and knowledge to support them. Working to improve the lives of individuals – issues tackled include self-neglect, hoarding, dependence on alcohol or drug misuse, homeless prevention and supporting individuals and their families living with dementia.

We do all of this alongside specialists in these areas, providing the most appropriate social work intervention.

North Yorkshire as a county has it all, rich in history and culture, outstanding natural beauty, vibrant cities, market towns, quaint villages, stunning rural and coastal landscape, and wide-open spaces. Harrogate has some fantastic places to visit including the Valley Gardens, Brimham Rocks, Pine Woods, Harrogate Theatre and RHS Harlow Carr and we are not too far from the Lake District, a jewel of the North.

We also benefit from excellent road and rail links, with easy access to Leeds, York, Newcastle, Durham and even London.
