Apprentice - GSE Technician

Overview

Join our engineering team as an Apprentice GSE Technician  will gain practical experience in vehicle and ground support equipment maintenance within a busy workshop environment and complete an accredited apprenticeship programme. This role offers the foundation for a long‑term engineering career in a safety‑focused organization.

• Assist qualified GSE technicians with servicing, maintenance, and repair activities under direct supervision.
• Develop proficiency with machine tools and workshop equipment.
• Operate machinery safely following completion of safety instruction and supervision.
• Carry out tasks assigned by the Workshop Supervisor or nominated GSE technician to support training and development objectives.
• Request parts using SAP systems.
• Maintain work bays and surrounding workshop areas in a clean and organized condition.
• Ensure special tools and equipment are maintained correctly and report any defects immediately.
• Confirm all completed work is checked, approved, and documented by a qualified technician.
• Accurately complete electronic job cards, inspections, and workshop administrative paperwork.
• Record productive and non‑productive time correctly for authorization.
• Support periodic servicing of vehicles and machinery under supervision.
• Complete electronic service and inspection documentation in line with company standards.
• Participate in on‑the‑job training, classroom learning, and e‑learning throughout the apprenticeship programme.

• Minimum Grade 4/C in Maths, English at GCSE level.
• Basic understanding of MS Outlook and digital systems.
• Ability to use iPads and tablets to complete work orders.
• Good literacy, numeracy, and analytical skills.
• Understanding of health and safety practices within a workshop environment.
• Service delivery focused with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately.

• Follow all company health and safety procedures and safe systems of work.
• Use PPE and safety equipment correctly at all times.
• Report accidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, or defective equipment immediately.
• Support investigations into incidents and contribute to improving workplace safety.
• Adhere to company quality, environmental, and health & safety policies in line with ISO
  9001, ISO
  14001, and OHSAS
  18001 frameworks.
• Ensure waste is correctly identified and segregated in accordance with environmental requirements.

• Complete an accredited apprenticeship programme through practical and classroom‑based learning.
• Work towards recognized NVQ qualifications during the training period.
• Gain increasing responsibility and exposure to more complex workshop tasks throughout the apprenticeship.
