Job Overview
The State of Connecticut, CT Paid Leave Authority announces openings for Associate Accounts Examiner positions. These positions are open to current agency employees for at least six months.

The Associate Accounts Examiner will serve as a working lead and will perform the following:
Responsibilities- Provide guidance and answer questions from staff.
- Monitor and review work performed.
- Hold weekly meetings with staff.
- Contribute to annual reviews.
- Manage schedules.
- Assign and direct work based on department needs.
- Prepare reporting and analysis for new business closures, trends on TPA filing and contribution reporting.
- Perform highly complex and difficult examination work involving financial records of state agencies, businesses, municipalities, or other entities.
- Determine priorities.
- Assign and review work.
- Establish and maintain unit procedures.
- Provide staff training and assistance.
- Conduct or assist in performance evaluations.
- Act as liaison with other units, agencies, and outside officials regarding policies and procedures.
- Examine complex and varied financial documents and data submitted.
- Research historical and related data as needed.
- Analyze and compare data to determine appropriate status or action.
- Determine compliance of documents or procedures with laws, regulations and state or federal requirements.
- Hold meetings with audit subjects.
- Participate in conferences and hearings.
- Coordinate unit workflow.
- Perform related duties as required.
- Considerable knowledge of professional accounting and auditing principles and practices.
- Knowledge of governmental and commercial accounting.
- Interpersonal skills.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyze financial records, documents, and reports.
- Ability to prepare reports including narrative and statistical sections.
- Supervisory ability.
Seven (7) years of experience in accounting or auditing; at least one year of professional level experience.
Substitutions Allowed- College training in accounting or a related field may be substituted for the general experience based on fifteen semester hours equaling half a year of experience, up to a maximum of four years for a bachelor’s degree.
- A master’s degree in accounting may be substituted for one additional year of general experience.
- Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor certification may be substituted for one year of general and special experience.
Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.
