Position Summary

The State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) is hiring an Office Assistant for the Licensing Services Division in Hartford, CT. The Division handles data entry, review, approval, and issuance of nearly 200 license types, deposits licensing fees within 48 hours, and supports online application services.

Location & Work Hours

Location:

450 Columbus Blvd, Hartford, CT.
Full-time, 40 hours/week.
Monday – Friday, First shift.
Hybrid work environment available.

Responsibilities
  • Data entry and review of new and renewal applications for all DCP regulated licenses.
  • Assist with basic support of online applications and functions.
  • Process and post initial and renewal online applications.
  • Deposit all application fees.
  • Answer division telephone calls.
  • Assist in the completion of system‑configured workflows.
  • Maintain client files and respond to public inquiries.
  • Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications – General Experience

  • Two (2) years of general clerical work experience.

Substitutions Allowed

  • College training may be substituted for the general experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equaling one/half (½) year of experience, up to a maximum of two (2) years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Microsoft products.
  • Experience communicating verbally via phone and in writing.
  • Experience scanning and working with Rich Text Format (RTF) and Portable Document Format (PDF) documents.
  • Experience completing assignments within specified deadlines.
  • Experience with data entry.
  • Experience with the processing of fees.
Special Requirements

Persons supervising or observing inmates or custodial individuals must possess a high school diploma or GED certification by the time of permanent appointment.
