The Connecticut State Library (CSL) is currently accepting applications from our agency employees for a Librarian 1 - State Library position.

As a Librarian 1 - State Library, you will be dedicated to learning about the wide-ranging historical and cultural background of the people of Connecticut and the social, political, and governmental structures that have existed through time.
- Staff the History & Genealogy Unit reference desk;
- Staff the Secured Collections Reading Area as needed;
- Assist patrons with locating and using materials from the State Library secured collections as well as the State Archives;
- Correspond with patrons using written and electronic formats to answer their queries;
- Learn about the library's resources by updating existing research guides, and finding aids and creating or adding to these using primary source materials; and
- Support efforts to digitize and make accessible the library's unique resources.
The Connecticut State Library is an independent and non-partisan Executive Branch agency of the State of Connecticut. Open to both residents and users beyond state borders, the State Library serves the employees and officials of all three branches of state government, students, teachers, researchers, town governments, and anyone seeking information within its collections. We are home to the State Archives, Office of the Public Records Administrator, Museum of Connecticut History, and more, providing a variety of archival, public records, museum, library, information, and administrative services.
EligibilityIn order to be considered for this job opening you must be a current State of CT employee of the agency listed above for at least six (6) months of full-time service or full-time equivalent service, absent any applicable collective bargaining language, and meet the Minimum Qualifications as listed on the job opening. You must specify your qualifications on your application.
In order to receive educational credits toward qualification for this job posting, the institution must be accredited. Salary Calculations:
For current state employees, salary calculations are not necessarily comparable from one of the three branches of state government (i.e., Executive, Legislative, Judicial) to the other.
