IntroductionThe State of Connecticut, Secretary of the State (SOTS) is seeking a detail-oriented, regulatory-minded License and Applications Analyst to support the Business Services Division. In this role, the selected candidate will interpret statutes and regulations, accurately review and process business filings and applications, and communicate determinations clearly while maintaining neutrality, professionalism, and a strong commitment to public service.

Hartford, CT - During training, the candidate will be expected to report in-office full time. After training, a hybrid (office/telework) schedule may be available, subject to business needs.
- You enjoy applying rules and regulations to real-world situations and take pride in reviewing documents carefully to ensure they meet legal and procedural requirements.
- You are comfortable making sound, defensible decisions about whether records should be accepted or rejected, and you can do so with fairness, consistency, and attention to detail.
- You communicate clearly and professionally in writing and conversation, and you value building positive working relationships with colleagues, businesses, and the public.
- You are confident using modern office technology such as Customer Relationship Management systems (e.g., Salesforce), cloud-based phone systems, and help-desk or ticketing tools to manage inquiries and keep work organized and efficient.
- You want your work to have purpose and are motivated by the opportunity to support transparent, accurate business records and help build a stronger Connecticut through public service with the Office of the Secretary of the State.
- Review and process business and corporate filings submitted under Connecticut statutes for accuracy and compliance;
- Examine legal documents served to the Secretary of the State in accordance with Connecticut civil procedure requirements;
- Apply statutory and regulatory criteria to determine whether submitted records meet acceptance standards or require rejection or correction;
- Respond to customer inquiries via phone and electronic ticketing systems, providing clear and professional guidance on filing requirements and processes.

We are a repository of records for the State and provide important information and resources regarding business and commercial filings, elections, and authentication as prescribed by the constitution, and federal and state laws.

The Business Services division files and maintains legally required records showing the formation of and fundamental changes to corporations, limited liability companies, limited liability partnerships, limited partnerships and other business entities. Business Services disseminates that information to the public and the business, banking and legal communities.
