PositionSummary
The position of Zamboni Driver is responsible for the ice rink, proper safe operation of the ice resurfacer (Zamboni), and maintenance of all areas pertaining to and/or involved in maintaining a quality sheet of ice for a professional hockey team. The Zamboni Driver reports to the Operations Manager.
Hourly rate: $18.68–$20.35 (per CBA). The position will remain open until August 28, 2026.

VenuePeoples Bank Arena is Connecticut’s premier destination for sports & entertainment. The 15,000+ seat downtown arena is home to the eleventh‑time National Champion UConn Women’s Basketball team and the six‑time National Champion UConn Men’s Basketball team. It also serves as home to the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, the primary developmental affiliate of the New York Rangers.
Peoples Bank Arena entertains millions of visitors annually with concerts, family shows, ice‑skating spectaculars, consumer events, and trade shows. The venue has hosted world‑renowned artists such as Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Pearl Jam, Black Eyed Peas, Britney Spears, and Drake.
Responsibilities- Perform general physical labor associated with setup and breakdown for events, including ice installation, ice maintenance, glass repair, and rink repair.
- Make repairs as directed by the Operations Manager.
- Operate a forklift truck.
- Drive the Zamboni during hockey games, maintaining the ice to AHL and/or NCAA standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Strong communicator, effective verbally and in written format to management, staff, and clients.
- Organized, able to prioritize, and possess strong time‑management skills.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, planning, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to undertake and complete multiple tasks.
- Attention to detail and service orientation.
- Strong customer‑service orientation and teamwork.
- Prior experience driving a Zamboni required.
- Prior experience with ice maintenance.
- Previous facility operations experience is a plus.
- Regularly lift and move heavy objects.
- Capable of performing strenuous physical duties—lifting, carrying, moving, climbing.
- Physical ability to stand, stoop, lift, and walk for prolonged periods.

- Work may require moving around the facility, standing for long hours during events, talking, and hearing. This position may require work inside or outside the building as needed for events.
