About the Opportunity
A well-established Connecticut General Contractor is seeking an experienced Superintendent to join its growing team. The company specializes in commercial, healthcare, multifamily, and mixed-use construction projects throughout the state and has built a reputation for quality, client relationships, and repeat business.
This role is ideal for a construction leader who thrives in the field, takes ownership of project execution, and enjoys working closely with project teams, subcontractors, owners, and design professionals to deliver successful projects from groundbreaking through turnover.
Position OverviewThe Superintendent will be responsible for the day-to-day field management of commercial, healthcare, and multifamily construction projects. This individual will oversee site operations, coordinate subcontractors, maintain project schedules, enforce safety standards, and ensure quality workmanship throughout all phases of construction.
The ideal candidate will have experience leading occupied healthcare renovations, commercial construction projects, and apartment or multifamily developments.
Responsibilities Field Operations- Manage all day-to-day jobsite activities from mobilization through project completion
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and field personnel
- Develop and maintain short-term look-ahead schedules
- Monitor project progress and proactively address schedule impacts
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within quality expectations
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements
- Conduct daily site safety inspections and toolbox talks
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant jobsite
- Promote a culture of safety among all project stakeholders
- Review work in place to ensure compliance with plans and specifications
- Coordinate inspections with owners, architects, consultants, and local authorities
- Manage punch list activities and project closeout
- Maintain high standards of workmanship throughout the project lifecycle
- Participate in project meetings with owners, architects, engineers, and project management staff
- Coordinate deliveries, logistics, and site access requirements
- Review construction documents and identify potential conflicts before work is performed
- Maintain daily reports, site documentation, and progress updates
- Coordinate construction activities within occupied facilities
- Minimize disruptions to building operations and occupants
- Ensure compliance with infection control, life safety, and healthcare-specific requirements when applicable
- 8+ years of Superintendent experience within commercial construction
- Proven experience leading healthcare, commercial, and/or multifamily construction projects
- Experience managing occupied renovations and phased construction projects preferred
- Strong understanding of construction means, methods, scheduling, and sequencing
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Proficiency with Procore or similar construction management software preferred
- OSHA 30 Certification preferred
