Performing Arts Roles/ Dance Instructor
The Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts - Half Day seeks a 20-Hour Dance Instructor.
Under the guidance of the Dance Department Head and Administration, the artist instructor will develop and deliver curriculum and instructional activities in dance. The dance curriculum includes ballet technique, Modern (Cunningham, Horton, Graham or Limon), Improvisation, Composition, Repertory, Dance Skills and Dance History. Elective classes are offered in Pointe, Jazz, and other styles. The successful applicant will be required to teach 2 to 3 of these classes/styles.
This position does not require a State of CT teaching certification.
- Plan and deliver lessons in dance.
- Teach classes for diverse student groups, ensuring alignment with developmental and skill levels.
- Incorporate innovative and culturally responsive teaching strategies into the curriculum.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that inspires creativity.
- Provide constructive feedback to help students grow artistically and personally.
- Encourage student participation in performances and showcases.
- Serve as a mentor and role model, demonstrating professionalism and artistic integrity.
- Maintain accurate attendance and student progress records.
- Communicate with CREC staff and parents/guardians as needed regarding student achievements or concerns.
- Participate in professional development and faculty meetings.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

- BS/BA degree in Education or a BFA with emphasis in appropriate discipline or equivalent required.
