Introduction
The Connecticut State Library (CSL), Digitization and Digital Collections Services Unit (DDCS) is seeking two (2) part‑time Library Technical Assistants (LTA) to support its ongoing digital preservation and access initiatives.

- Monday through Friday schedule
- First shift, 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM
- Located in Hartford, CT
- Hybrid schedule available based on business needs in accordance with the Telework Policy
This position plays a key role in helping CSL preserve and provide access to the agency’s significant historic and cultural resources. Working under the direction of DDCS staff, the LTA performs a variety of tasks related to digitizing CSL materials and preparing them for long‑term management within CSL’s digital collections systems. Tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Working on basic and intermediate digitization projects
- Operating digitization equipment and imaging systems in accordance with established technical guidelines and best practices
- Editing, processing, and preparing digitized image files
- Performing single‑item and batch ingests of digitized content into CSL’s digital collections
- Fulfilling special digitization requests
The successful candidate shall possess a high attention to detail, the ability to work independently and manage their time effectively, a willingness to learn new equipment, software, and procedures, and the ability to balance multiple projects at one time.
Qualifications- Two (2) years of experience in library work
- Two (2) years of college training equalling sixty (60) semester hours with at least twelve (12) semester hours in library science may be substituted for the general experience
- Experience using a book scanner to digitize library materials
- Experience conducting quality review of digitized image files
- Experience using software to edit digitized image files
- Experience adding content to collections in a digital repository
- Experience handling fragile library materials
- Knowledge of library science techniques and practices, library classification systems, and record‑keeping procedures
- Interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability to operate automated library systems
