We are looking for people with limited work experience who are interested in building the knowledge, confidence and workplace skills needed for success in competitive employment. In this position, you will develop the skills necessary to independently support participants in achieving their own employment goals.
Essential Duties:
- Complete required 36 hours of online, self-directed training in a timely manner
- Develop new skills through shadowing, observing, asking questions of mentors and supervisors
- Provide on-the-job training and support to participants at assigned community employment sites throughout Connecticut
- Regular travel throughout Fairfield and New Haven counties
- Assist participants in learning job duties, understanding workplace expectations, and communicating effectively at job sites through use of natural supports
- Maintain effective communication and act as liaison between employers and program participants
- Find and utilize community resources effectively
- Identify employment opportunities that align with participants' strengths, needs, interests, and preferences
- Complete all necessary assessments and documentation
- Maintain and adhere to established quality standards for all work performed by program participants while providing excellent customer service to employers
- Ensure compliance with all worksite safety rules, regulations, and procedures
Education and/or
Experience:
- High school diploma or GED and little to no experience providing vocational rehabilitation or employment support.
Requirements:
- The ability to independently travel to and from assigned locations throughout the state of Connecticut - including areas that may not be accessible by public transportation - is required.
- CPR and First Aid Certification (or the ability to obtain)
- Certified Employment Specialist Professional (CESP) must be obtained after 9 months of employment
Schedule:
- 40 hours per week flexible based on the needs of the participants and program
