New Hartford Public Schools is seeking an outstanding candidate for the position of Special Education Para educator at New Hartford Public Schools 1.0 FTE for the school year.
Duties- Assist in individual pupil instruction
- Assist teacher in maintaining discipline
- Assist teacher in data collection
- May escort a student to and from various rooms
- Toileting may be required
- Regular attendance is required for this position.
- Working with special education student(s) under direction of a certified teacher
- This position will require CPI training to be provided by the Student Services Department.

Education and/or ExperienceTwo years of college credit or an associate’s (or higher) degree; or successful completion of a paraprofessional assessment.
Language SkillsAbility to read, comprehend and follow simple directions, compose short correspondence and memos. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Effectively communicate with special education teachers.
Reasoning AbilityApply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to problem solve scenarios involving a few concrete variables.
Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
The employee must be able to push items of 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision.
