Connecticut State Community College (CT State) is the largest community college in New England, serving all 169 towns in Connecticut and beyond. The Workforce Development and Continuing Education division offers short‑term licensure and certificate programs to meet the needs of residents and businesses. This position invites experienced tradespersons to share their expertise through part‑time, non‑credit teaching.

Position Summary

Part‑time Non‑Credit Lecturer. Teach assigned manufacturing courses across multiple campuses, in‑person, online (synchronously or asynchronously), or hybrid. Courses include Blueprint Reading, Shop Math, Benchwork & Layout, Safety and Procedural Compliance, Machinists (introductory and advanced), Welding, Pipe fitting, Shipfitting, Outside Machinist, and Plumbing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach courses in the assigned discipline in accordance with institutional standards.
  • Assess student learning outcomes and evaluate academic performance.
  • Provide student support, mentoring, and academic advising.
  • Develop curriculum and periodically review and update instructional materials.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current industry certification in the relevant field.
  • Related work experience in the field.
  • Ability to present curriculum in a classroom or lab environment.
  • For Plumbing: must be a P1 plumber.
  • For Welding: one (1) or more years of work experience in welding.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those with disabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Additional qualifications may be requested, as relevant to the academic department.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching in workforce development, adult education, continuing education, or non‑credit training programs, especially short‑term certificate or credential‑aligned programs.
  • Experience designing or delivering customized training programs (onsite, online, or hybrid).
  • Knowledge of current industry trends and workforce needs.
  • Two (2) or more years of practical experience in the field for which you are applying, with understanding of industry credentialing or licensure requirements.
Compensation

Salary is commensurate with specific course, location, and demand.
