The Opportunity

As the Director of Education, you'll provide strategic leadership for one of Connecticut's most respected special education programs. You'll guide certified, licensed, and instructional staff while ensuring every student receives an educational experience that is individualized, engaging, and rooted in excellence.

You'll cultivate a culture where teachers are empowered, students are celebrated, and innovation drives meaningful outcomes.

What You'll Do

Every day brings the opportunity to make a difference.

You'll:

  • Inspire and develop a team of dedicated educators through coaching, mentoring, and professional growth.
  • Champion instructional excellence while ensuring compliance with State Board of Education standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Design and implement innovative educational programs that respond to the evolving needs of our students.
  • Partner with multidisciplinary teams to ensure every student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) is implemented with fidelity.
  • Foster an educational environment where learning is safe, inclusive, engaging, and meaningful.
  • Lead Program Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings and collaborate with families, clinicians, educators, and community partners.
  • Drive continuous improvement by using data to evaluate outcomes, identify opportunities, and strengthen instructional practices.
  • Ensure Oak Hill School continues to meet accreditation standards while advancing our mission of educational excellence.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with families, staff, and stakeholders, creating a culture built on trust, collaboration, and shared purpose.

What You'll Bring
  • Master's degree with required coursework for appropriate certification.
  • Seven or more years of progressively responsible educational leadership experience, including at least five years in a management role.
  • Demonstrated success leading educators and building collaborative teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive informed decision-making.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Comfort leveraging technology to improve educational outcomes.
  • A mission-driven mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.
