Head Teacher (Early Childhood)
Under the supervision of the Child Development Director and Childcare C, the Head Teacher is responsible for the overall operations of the classroom and provides a high quality of education and care for children.
Essential functions include supervising daily classroom activities, creating and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculums, maintaining open lines of communication with families, and upholding YMCA core values.
Qualifications include knowledge of early childhood education, school readiness, and Connecticut early learning and development standards. A warm and nurturing personality is required, with bilingual skills in Spanish and English being a plus.
Education requirements include OEC requirements, such as a CDA and twelve credits in early childhood education, or an ECE associate or bachelor's degree. Early childhood experience of at least two years is also required.
Physical requirements include the ability to supervise children by sight and sound, move around a room quickly, remain calm in stressful situations, and lift young children and objects up to 40 lbs.
