Special Education Coach-Middle School (Grades 6-8)
Vernon Center Middle School is seeking a highly qualified, collaborative, and student-centered Special Education Instructional Coach to support the instructional practices and professional growth of special education staff serving students in Grades 6-8. The Special Education Instructional Coach will serve as a resource and instructional leader, working collaboratively with special education and general education teachers, administrators, related service providers, and other school personnel.
The coach will provide practical, ongoing support in areas such as instruction, IEP development and implementation, data-informed decision-making, standards-based planning, interventions, and inclusive practices. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience as a special education teacher, a strong understanding of the needs of students with disabilities, and a commitment to helping educators strengthen their practice. We are seeking an approachable, knowledgeable, and collaborative educator who builds positive relationships and provides meaningful guidance and support to improve outcomes for students.
Provide ongoing instructional coaching and support to special education teachers across Grades 6-8 to strengthen instructional practices and improve student outcomes. Coach teachers in developing and implementing high-quality IEPs that are aligned to individual student needs and special education requirements. Support teachers in effectively using CT-SEDS and navigating special education documentation, procedures, and timelines. Guide teachers in analyzing student data to identify needs, monitor progress, and make informed instructional decisions.
Collaborate with teachers to analyze grade-level standards and develop appropriate specially designed instruction, interventions, accommodations, and modifications. Model and support effective instructional and inclusive practices, including opportunities for classroom-based coaching and collaboration with general education teachers. Support teachers in preparing for effective IEP meetings and communicating student needs and progress with families. Collaborate with staff and administration to identify professional learning needs and provide targeted professional development and resources.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the administration.
