Description
The Career Development Coach is a YWCA Hartford Region ambassador and resource navigator, and plays a central role in the curated experiences of YWCA, YWCL, and Personal Finance program participants. The Career Development Coach will facilitate workshops; develop personal, professional, and academic SMART goals with participants; coordinate activities related to department objectives, including case management, program recruitment, and college and career placements;
and work effectively with program site partners.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Collaboration and Partnership- Serves as a YWCA Hartford Region brand ambassador, elevating the organization's values, mission, vision, and impact with existing and potential program partners;
- Identifies, facilitates, and nurtures partnerships across multiple sectors and industries to enhance program services and objectives;
- Works cooperatively with program site partners to ensure seamless delivery of program services; and
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Programs.
- Collaborates with partners and the Director of Programs to identify, recruit, and enroll eligible Program participants;
- Articulates features and benefits of YWCA Hartford Region Programs to partners and participants;
- Tracks and manages eligible participants and maintains the appropriate files, documents, and demographic information; and
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Programs.
- Reviews and implements curricula and lesson modules, and performs program assessments;
- Researches, designs, and implements workshops and activities specific to relevant leadership and career skills, knowledge, and competencies;
- Provides workforce development support (i.e., job search, resume and cover letter writing, mock interviews, etc.);
- Prepares participants to meet emerging workplace needs and achieve life success;
- Delivers direct in-person and virtual program service and leads day-to-day program support; and
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Programs.
- Conducts one-to-one and group coaching in leadership, college and career preparedness, and empowerment;
- Identifies and evaluates student needs and recommends suitable resources to eliminate obstacles to student success, including, but not limited to, connections to healthy social networks, mentoring, financial literacy resources, wellness, and student services support programs;
- Remains current with professional trends and program resources in leadership development, empowerment, post-secondary education, and workforce development; and
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Programs.
- Captures and enters accurate documentation for program and funding reports, including participation case notes, student testimonies, workshop and resource summaries, and education and employment outcome attainment;
- Supports reporting and data collection management, input, and accuracy;
- Recommends and identifies resources for Programming, creating success strategies for overcoming obstacles for college and career success;
- Ensures data integrity by promptly and accurately entering all relevant information into the system;
- Maintains proper documentation of processes and identifies/tracks measurable outcomes that demonstrate program effectiveness and align with funding requirements; and
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Programs.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in education, social work, community development, or related degree.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Experience:
- Minimum five (2) years’ experience in leadership development, program management, and teaching.
- Minimum five (3) years’ experience in developing educational programs and courses focused on digital technology and nontraditional adult education.
- Education sector, teaching, trainer, or experience training in a nonprofit setting required.
- One (1) to three (3) years’ relevant experience in coaching, mentoring, or providing group facilitation.
- One (1) to three (3) years’ written and communication skills, i.e., report writing, developing training materials, and communications with program partners.
